Gary Johnson’s Lawsuit to Fix Presidential Elections in America

Gary Johnson has release an ad for his “Our American Initiative,” which is asking for crowd-sourced donations to his lawsuit to sue the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), a private organization created by the Democratic and Republican parties which controls access to the Presidential debates.

Basically what the issue is is that he Democratic and Republican parties have secured a monopoly on access to presidential debates by working with institutionalized media to create a system that blocks candidates from other parties from entering the debates. What the debates ruled is that candidates must receive at least 15% of a majority poll to be included. Most of these major polls don’t even include the third party candidates though. This is why it is practically impossible for third parties to enter debates. Televised presidential debates go back to 1960 and have been a regular event since the 1976 election. Originally administered by the League of Women Voters, they’ve been jointly organized by the Democratic and Republican parties through the commission on presidential debates since about 1987, which is a group that the 2 parties jointly formed.

The lawsuit would ask the court to order the CDP to allow any candidate access to the presidential debates who is listed in enough states to garner at least 50% of their electoral college votes. This gives access to debates for third party candidates that are serious about running.

Stick around for Part II when I discuss why this is important!!!

Georgia Spring Game Review

So, the spring has come and gone, and now is a painful part of the year for college football fans. There is no football again until fall camp, and this is a very long drought. However, for teams like the Georgia Bulldogs, the 2014 spring game has brought a lot of excitement to the fan base. An excitement and energy that Georgia fans really need following the injury-riddled, disappointing 2013 season.

Hutson Mason was the star of the show in the G-Day game. He calmed a lot of fans down, as there was a majority that did not believe he was going to be good enough to start. He showed great poise in the pocket, nice arm strength, and quickly established his number one receiver as Chris Conley. Mason went 17-25 with 188 yards and a Touchdown, all in the first half. He also showed very nimble feet and showed that he can move around in the pocket, and he wont just be a sitting duck.

Georgia Spring Game 2014: Recap, Highlights and Analysis

Another bright spot of the day was Michael Bennett, recovering from multiple knee injuries. He looked 100% on the field, running great routes and showing off his hands, making a sports center top 10 catch. It is relieving, to say the least, for Georgia fans to see some healthy receivers. Conley also ran very well, and his speed and quickness appear to be back to normal after the late season ankle injury in 2013.

Defense was what true fans wanted to see from Georgia on GDay, and they got a mediocre performance out of the group run by new coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. The secondary again looked spotty, something we saw a lot of last year, but this is without some incoming freshman and injured players that could very well be starting. Sophomore corner Shaq Wiggins is a stud, we know that for sure, and Senior Damian Swann brings some nice experience and athletic ability. If Swann can come back off his poor 2013 year, it would be a huge help for the Georgia secondary. The front seven of Georgia? No complaints from me, and they seemed to play with more of a fire and passion, which is what Coach Pruitt brings to the table, along with hopefully, a national championship.

Summer Desserts

It’s about 75 and sunny outside, which makes everyone think of summer. It is almost May, after all. With the end of school (and graduation) coming up in about a month and a half, summer is fast approaching. Which means summer dessert recipes, like this gluten free strawberry cobbler cake, sound especially good. Anything with fruit definitely has a summer feel to it, and this recipe is a great way to kick off the season. Although it seems a little complex, it looks worth the work.

For the strawberries:
1 heaping pint of fresh strawberries, washed, patted dry
A sprinkle of lemon or lime juice
2 tablespoons organic sugar
Dry ingredients:
2/3 cup certified gluten-free cornmeal
1/3 cup GF buckwheat flour, GF millet flour, or brown rice flour
2/3 cup sorghum flour
2 teaspoons xanthan gum
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/2 teaspoons aluminum-free baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup organic light brown sugar, packed
Pinch of nutmeg- just a hint
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Wet ingredients:
1/4 cup light olive oil
1 cup hemp or rice milk, warm
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice or light tasting rice vinegar
3 tablespoons raw organic agave nectar or honey
2 teaspoons bourbon vanilla extract
 2 eggs
Organic raw sugar for the top, if desired
Instructions:Preheat the oven to 350ºF.

Warm up a seasoned 10-inch skillet (or use a hefty cake pan or casserole dish). I rubbed mine with a little light olive oil. Set aside.
Stem the strawberries; cut them in half; toss them into a bowl and sprinkle with a little bit of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons organic sugar. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, use a whisk to combine your dry ingredients: cornmeal, buckwheat and white rice flours, xanthan gum, sea salt, baking powder, baking soda, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Set aside.
In a smaller bowl combine the wet ingredients: light olive oil, hemp milk, vinegar, agave, vanilla, egg replacer (or egg). Whisk till combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and lightly mix by hand until combined- don’t over-beat (it isn’t necessary).
Drain the strawberries and pour them into the warm skillet
Spoon the batter onto the strawberries. Place the reserved berries on top, cut side down, pressing in slightly.
Sprinkle the whole top with organic raw sugar crystals.
Bake in the center of a preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, depending upon your altitude and oven (here at 6,700 feet it took 47 minutes).
Test for doneness by not only touching the top- it should be golden and firm- but by using a cake tester inserted into the center; it should emerge clean.
Place the skillet on a wire cooling rack to cool.
Serve slices warm or at room temperature. Wrap leftover slices in foil; bag and freeze. Thaw to room temperature or warm gently before consuming.

Third Parties and the New York State

A recent poll found that an entire 24% of voters in New York would support a progressive third party candidate in the upcoming governor race. The likely Republican nominee, Rob Astorino, also polled at 24% in a hypothetical three-way contest. Democrat nominee Andrew Cuomo holds a decisive lead regardless of who he is going to be running against, but a progressive candidate would cut his margin of victory by about 50%. The question then is whether a progressive third party should serve the purpose of squeezing as much out of conservative Democrats as possible or if it should, at least in some instances, run against conservative Democrats in order to both make a statement and establish itself as a force to be counted with.

If progressive third parties conclude that all Democrats are worth supporting because “at least they’re not Republicans” then third parties serve no purpose. But if they run against every Democrat then they risk becoming borderline irrelevant (like the Green Party, for instance). Unlike virtually all other progressive parties, the Working Families Party has some momentum behind it, thanks, in part, to the elections of Mayor Bill de Blasio and Public Advocate Letitia James. And if the WFP were to run their own candidate against Cuomo, it would hinder, if not destroy, any possibility of Cuomo running as a liberal alternative to Hillary Clinton in a Presidential primary. So the WFP is in the unique position of being a third party that could significantly damage a prominent Governor’s second term as well as potentially effect a national election.

West Coast

Last week I wrote a blog post about the many issues surrounding the San Francisco 49ers. Kaepernick has been in hot water lately among other interesting issues. As I have previously said, Kaepernick was involved in an incident report in Miami, Florida. Others involved include 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton and Seahawk Ricardo Lockette. Kaepernick has repeatedly announced his innocence and Coach, Jim Harbaugh believes his QB.

West Coast rivals, the Seattle Seahawks have some note-worthy news as well. Russell Wilson has announced his divorce from wife Ashton. They were only married January 2012. Sadly this news has over shadowed a much more touching story from the Seahawks camp.

Former Seattle cornerback, Marcus Trufant, signed a one day deal with the Seahawks in order to retire as a Hawk. Trufant signed a deal with Jacksonville last year but has since been released. Trufant is a Tacoma native and wished to end his career as a Washingtonian football player.

Trufant spent a total of ten seasons in Seattle and posted 638 tackles. The talented player ranks fifth in hawks history for interceptions with 21 and his impressive 638 tackles places him in tenth place for the Hawks. It is touching to see Trufant retire as a Hawk when he was such a difference maker for the team. I told you this was a way better story than Russell Wilson’s divorce.

Climate Action Plan

Last June, the Obama Administration released the Climate Action Plan (CAP) which was intended to reduce domestic climate change. Now, the White House is targeting methane gas emissions specifically.

Methane gas is released due to oil and gas extraction, coal mining, landfills, and cattle and dairy farming. Since many industries are responsible for contributing to the increase of methane in the atmosphere, the administration is determined to work with these businesses. The government has shifted its attention from decreasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to methane because methane gas contributes nine percent of greenhouse gas and traps more heat than carbon dioxide does. As a result, the Earth is warming much faster. Methane gas in the atmosphere is a significant problem because it absorbs infrared wavelengths that water and carbon dioxide are not able to absorb. Methane remains in the atmosphere for only twelve years, but it continues to harm the planet because it converts into carbon dioxide which absorbs more heat and consequently contributes to global warming.

The government is also focusing on methane gas because natural gas extraction and farming release more methane than the EPA permits. Some of the goals from this plan include reducing methane in the landfills, coal mines, agricultural sector and oil and gas sector. The goals are ambitious, but the plan is quite vague. Furthermore, this plan is encountering a lot of opposition from interest groups who oppose these regulations. There introduction of this plan during a time of so much polarization in politics illustrates the determination to fight global warming. Other new projects to help fight global warming are also being implemented, but it will be interesting to observe the progress this plan makes.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans

This week, the PGA Tour heads to the bayou of New Orleans for the Zurich Classic. Although this is definitely one of the most elite events of the year on tour, there have already been a lot of really low scores out there. The current leader is Ben Martin. The South Carolina native finished strong last week for one of his best wees of the year and a tie for third and is off to a good start this week. He is currently -15 after the first two rounds as he shot a -10 par round of 62 yesterday and a -5 round today. His first round of 62 actually broke the course record at TPC Louisiana, the annual home of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. After these two astonishing rounds of play he is ahead of the field by 3 shots. All of that was despite a double bogey today on the par-5 18th hole. His nearest competitors  include Keegan Bradley and charley Hoffman at -9 and in second place is Andrew Svoboda at -12. Svoboda also opened up the tournament strong with a round of -8 on thursday but is still well behind the leader Ben Martin.

Martin, who is only 26, has actually never won on the PGA Tour. Although he has won twice on the less competitive Web.com tour before heading to the PGA Tour, he has never won, and has only made a couple of cuts this season. However, every time he has made the cut, he has soared near the top of the leader board. Every time that he has made the cut this season, he has finished in the top 10. This week definitely could be a breakout for the young player.

The Amazing Spiderman 2

The Amazing Spiderman 2 comes out in theaters in a week. It is the fifth Spiderman movie, but the second of the new series starring Andrew Garfield as Spiderman. These movies are much more like the comics and have Peter at a much younger age. He is also dating Gwen Stacey played by Emma Stone instead of Mary Jane Watson. Many comics book fans like these ones more due to the fact the follow along with the comics more. In my opinion they are better, because Andrew Garfield is a much better Spiderman and the villains are much more interesting and dangerous. There is also a deeper story and the movies connect together much better.

This movie carries on with Peter Parker continuing his role as Spiderman, but now in college and working at the Daily Bugle as a photographer. He has gotten back in a relationship with Gwen and protects the city. He now faces a new danger form Oscorp including the Rhino, Electro, and the Green Goblin. He is also being watched by Oscorp and must protect Gwen from getting caught in the crossfire of his battles. He is going to have a very tough time defeating all the villains, because they are some of his strongest enemies. He also has the trouble of dealing with Harry Osborn who is his best friend, but also the son of the Green Goblin and hates Spiderman. I would recommend seeing this movie, because it is sure to be a hit. There will be plenty of action along with a great story, so check it out May 3rd.

World Penguin Day

Hey Internet!

Today is  Friday, April 25th, 2014.

Yup, you read it correctly, World Penguin Day is actually a thing. It coordinates with Penguin Awareness Day which falls on January 20th, every year.

This holiday event is the date that penguins begin their annual migration north….or so they say. I bet that people just wanted an excuse to praise these adorable creatures, and who can blame them?

http://thatothernguyen.tumblr.com/post/70575598755/are-penguins-even-real-omfg

Get Educated!

1. There are 17-20 different species of penguins. (It all depends which scientist you ask.)

2. Penguins are birds.

3. No. Penguins can not fly.

4. BUT…Many penguin species take to the air when they leap from the water onto the ice. Just before taking flight, they release air bubbles from their feathers. This cuts the drag on their bodies, allowing them to double or triple their swimming speed quickly and launch into the air.

5. Penguins don’t wear tuxedos to make a fashion statement: it helps them be camouflaged while swimming. From above, their black backs blend into the dark ocean water and, from below, their white bellies match the bright surface lit by sunlight. This helps them avoid predators, such as leopard seals, and hunt for fish unseen.

6. Penguins’ eyes work better underwater than they do in the air, giving them superior eyesight to spot prey while hunting, even in cloudy, dark or murky water.
For more info go to google, type in “penguins” and hit enter. Search pictures and do a little research.
Have fun! and share you love for penguins with the world so they do not go extinct!!!!
This week is Green Week or Earth Week so I hope you all have tried your best to save our planet…which in return saves these adorable little guys’ lives!!!!
Yours truly,

Abdominals

I am going to share some more weight training ab exercises!

Superman:
lay on your stomach with your legs flat on the floor straight and stretched out behind you and your arms flat and stretched out on the floor in front of you. All at once lift and flex so the only thing touching the ground is primarily your stomach. This flexes almost everything and is a tad painful and challenging but a good workout. Hold the pose for about 15 seconds and do 8 repititions.

Bench Leg raises:
flatten out a bench pressing bench all the way. Lay on your back and scoot so your hips are on the end of the bench. Put your legs together and in the air at a 90 degree angle. Lower your legs slowly to parallel so your body is flat but your legs hang off the edge. When you bring your legs back up and you reach the 90 degree angle, use your abs to push your hips up off of the bench and in the air. Do three sets of 8 repetitions. This targets the lower abdominal.

Bar Roll out:
on a normal benching bar, place big 10 pound or any amount of low weight, weight panels on the side so the bar is off of the ground when placed flat on the floor. In a knee pushup position place your hands on the bar and roll out until your body is almost flat. Then, proceed to slowly and in a controlled manner, roll yourself back up. This works your back and abdominal muscles, basically your entire core

Progress Being Made in Iran

On a more positive note, progress is being made in Iran in regards to human, and more specifically, women’s rights. A UN body known as the Economic and Social Council that is based in New York, recently elected Iran to a 4-year term on its Commission on the Status of Women. CSW is the world’s most prominent international organization that is dedicated and promoting and fighting for women’s rights.

Iran is infamous for its neglect of human rights, and the fact that they are not an active part of the CSW is a major breakthrough for the future of the women in the country. Iran, like Afghanistan, is under the rule of Sharia which pays the treatment of women no mind. Citizen’s civil rights in general are often violated too.

Because of this election, Iran will now a play a role in determining the progress of gender equality in their country, as opposed to completely neglecting it.

However, there has been opposition from many members of the global community about this. They feel that Iran is not worthy of this position. Being a country that is known for its brutal treatment of women  and citizens has hindered its reputation around the world. Instead of being a country that people can trust and put their faith into, some people feel that Iran is a liability that will not be able to make actual progress.

Hopefully, the newly-elected members of the CSW have legitimate plans to make reforms and work with the global community and UN to improve the living conditions of women living in Iran. We will see where this goes.

Below is a picture of John F. Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt, among others, at a CSW meeting decades ago.

YG to donate 500 million won to the families of ferry victims

Many celebrities have been trying to help out the Sewol tragedy relief effort in their own ways, and it has been revealed that Yanh Hyun Suk, CEO of YG Entertainment is among them. He will be donating a sum of 500 million KRW (~ 481,000 USD)!

According to representatives over at YGE(YG entertainment), Yang Hyun Suk held a meeting with company executives, where he stated, As a parent myself with kids, I have fallen into great anguish while keeping updated with the Sewol incident and spilled tears every time I watched the news. There are probably no words in this world that can console a family that has lost a child.” With this, he announced that he will be preparing a fund of 500 million KRW to be donated to the families of the victims of the tragedy that will be handled through the YG charity program.

A rep at the agency told Osen,Throughout the meeting, the mood was very grave. After hearing about Sewol, Yang had already put a stop to all the activities of the agency artists, and had proposed that all employees participate in the mourning. Since then he had been wondering what he could do to help those who had become victims of the Sewol ship.”

YGE has been operating a charity project called ‘WITH‘ for a while now under the direction of Yang Hyun Suk, and the campaign had participated in numerous donations to children’s hospitals and more to help those in need.

The rep also added, “Yang has decided he will initially prepare 500 million KRW of donation and that YGE will look over the process and take the responsibility to make sure that the funds are delivered to the families who have fallen victim to the tragedy.”

Other reps of the agency confirmed the news with various media outlets, commentingYang Hyun Suk has decided to give 500 million KRW to help the victims of the Sewol tragedy,” as well as “With Yang Hyun Suk as the center, all of YG had been in mourning and had been wondering how to help, and so this decision was made.”

My favorite poet : Dr. Seuess

hullo dreamers,

I have decided to share some of my favorite poetry this time. This is not written by me, but they are my favorites.

Enjoy…

Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
Any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And
you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll
decide where to go.You’ll get mixed up,
of course, as you already know.
You’ll get mixed up with
many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great
tact and remember that
Life’s A Great Balancing Act.

And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

Happy Birthday To You!

If we didn’t have birthdays,
you wouldn’t be you.
If you’d never been born,
well then what would you do?
If you’d never been born,
well then what would you be?
You might be a fish!
Or a toad in a tree!
You might be a doorknob!
Or three baked potatoes!
You might be a bag full of
hard green tomatoes.

Or worse than all that… Why, you might be a WASN’T! A Wasn’t has no fun at all. No, he doesn’t.

A Wasn’t just isn’t. He just isn’t present. But you… You ARE YOU! And, now isn’t that pleasant!

Yertle the Turtle

I’m Yertle the Turtle!
Oh, marvelous me!
For I am the ruler
of all that I see!Your Majesty. Please…
I don’t like to complain.
But down here below,
we are feeling great pain.

I hope you liked it
